'Off the wall'

This beautiful new range of Wallart has been designed and hand crafted by John Polak right here in Tomintoul. A big hit at all the Highland Games, Agricultural Shows and Craft Fairs around the region, Spindrift remains the only 'Bricks and Mortar' retail outlet with the full range on permanent display. 

Most of John's 'Off the Wall' creations begin life as a spark of inspiration. That spark is often ignited by a walk in the magnificent landscape that surrounds him here in the Scottish Highlands. It then grows, develops and evolves, first on a sketch pad and then in the form of a computerised digital image. It then undergoes further development - subtle tweaking and engineering designed to ensure that the two dimensional image will successfully translate into three dimensions. Each element of the design is then converted into a template file and exported to a high powered laser machine which accurately cuts each shape - out of sustainably grown poplar wood. These shapes are then hand stained, re-assembled and mounted on a pinewood baseboard to create a 3D replica of the original design. The result is what you see here. Each piece comes mounted on either a black or pale grey plinth to suit your home decor. Wallart is available for postal purchases and comes carefully boxed for safe transit.
